All about the Koil Sagar Camping.

Description:

Koilsagar is located at 120kms from Hyderabad in Mahabubnagar District. Its a ideal place to spend sometime with the nature on the shores of KoilSagar reservoir which is a tributary of river Krishna.

The camp spot is surrounded by rocky hills at one side and the reservoir at the other side.

About Location and How to Reach:

By Car: Reach Mahabubnagar and then drive towards Koil Sagar Reservoir.

By Bus: Take public transportation till Mahabubnagar and then Auto to Koil Sagar.

Suitable for Groups, Families. Pet friendly.

Activities:

Hiking: Koil Sagar is surrounded by nice hills. Once can go hiking till the rocks.

Swimming: One can go swimming in the Koil Sagar lake.

Site-seeing:

Visit Koilkonda Fort which is the erstwhile outpost of the Qutab Shahi dynasty situated on a hilltop.

Visit Pillalamarri or Peerlamarri is an 800-year-old banyan tree located in Mahabubnagar, Telangana, India. The tree is spread over 4 acres. It is a major tourist attraction located 4 kilometers from Mahabubnagar.

  1. Suggested Itinerary 1 Camping, Site-Seeing

    Saturday/Day 1: Start from Hyderabad or your location at 1pm. Reach the campsite by evening around 4pm. Have Tea and settle in at the campsite.

    Enjoy the sunset view over the Koil Sagar Lake.

    You can set up BBQ . We will provide the grill and food( Marinated Chicken/Vegetables) can be ordered at the village.

    Enjoy the campfire under the stars.

    Dinner.

    Sunday/Day 2: Wake up early to view the sunrise. You can go for a morning Hike close by near the hills.

    Post your hike you can take a swim in the lake.

    Breakfast.

    Check out the campsite by 10am and you can visit Koil Konda which is an old fort near by, Pillallamarri or Eco-Village. All might not be possible so pick up either Koil Konda Hike or Eco-Village.

    Reach Hyderabad/your location by evening.

  2. Suggested Itinerary 2 Camping, Koil Konda Hike

    Saturday/Day 1: Start from Hyderabad or your location by 7am. Have breakfast on the way and reach Koil Konda which is an old fort by 10am and trek up the old fort. It will take 3-4 hours to go up and come down.It has a clear path and one can trek on their own over there.

    Have lunch at Koil Konda and proceed to the campsite.

    Reach the campsite by evening around 4pm. Have Tea and settle in at the campsite. You can have a swim in the lake post the trek.

    Enjoy the sunset view over the Koil Sagar Lake.

    You can set up BBQ . We will provide the grill and food( Marinated Chicken/Vegetables) can be ordered at the village.

    Enjoy the campfire under the stars.

    Dinner.

    Sunday/Day 2: Wake up early to view the sunrise. You can go for a morning walk close by near the hills.

    Breakfast.

    Check out the campsite by 10am and return back to Hyderabad or your location.

    Reach Hyderabad/your location by afternoon.

Camping
  • Backpack to put all your things in.
  • Sun Cap / Umbrella.
  • Shoes if you plan to go on a hike and Slippers for the campsite.
  • Torch / Headtorch if you want to go around in the night.
  • 1 Light Towel – A quick Dry towel helps.
  • 1 Handkerchief – Re-use than using Tissues.
  • Mosquito Repellent Cream.
  • Toiletries required – Add Sunscreen

  • Personal medicines. (If you are allergic to medication or have any preexisting medical condition do notify the trek organizer before hand)

Anyone fit and is able to walk for 4-5 hours can do this trek. Just have an attitude of not giving up. We take a age limit of 18+ unless explicitly specified in the trek page.

Wear something loose and comfortable. Do not wear any bright colors but wear natural colors to blend with nature. Get a good sun cap to protect your self from sun. Always good to wear full hands and full length trousers to avoid scratches. If its rainy season a raincoat or poncho is a must.

Walk minimum 30 minutes daily. If you are going on a long trek see that you can jog for 30 minutes . From 2 days before the trek Dehydrate yourself by drinking lot of water . Sleep well the night before.

We suggest participants to get gear based on the season. We suggest you go over the things to get section in the earlier tab.

We take a age limit of 18+ unless explicitly specified in the trek page.

Mostly we serve vegetarian and local food based on the availability. Breakfast is mostly bread, Jam, fruits. Lunch is rice, dal and vegetables. Lunch, Dinner is based on the campsite sometimes we take packed food or we serve on the top.

An organizer will accompany the group at all times and also based on a trek a local will be with the group.

We will be using nature. But to keep the place clean we request all trekkers to go a bit away from the campsite and also to cover up with soil after they are done.

We will not have water sources. We advice the trekkers to carry 2 / 3L of water for day / overnight treks.

Mostly the network’s would not be strong as we would be going into the hills and forests. Be prepared for no signal and inform yours contacts if you are expecting any calls.

We advice people not to wear new shoes on a trek. A good trekking shoes is preferred which are available in any popular trekking goods stores.

We have a strict no smoking and drinking policy on the treks. Alcohol dehydrates you and smoke can risk a forest fire. Anyone found with to violate this will be removed from the trek immediately.

We have a strict no waste and littering policy. Any waste created should be carried back and disposed in proper dustbins.
