Anyone fit and is able to walk for 4-5 hours can join most of our trekking events. Just have an attitude of not giving up. We take a age limit of 18+ for our events unless explicitly specified in the trek page. There are a few treks (3 hours – 1 day), where kids above 8+ years can also join. Do message us and we can advice you on which are the treks one can join.
We list all our upcoming events on our calendar at https://goxp.in/calendar/
Also one can follow us on social media for frequent updates. Details at https://goxp.in/contact-us/
Wear something loose and comfortable. Do not wear any bright colors but wear natural colors to blend with nature. Get a good sun cap to protect your self from sun. Always good to wear full hands and full length trousers to avoid scratches. If its rainy season a raincoat or poncho is a must.
Walk minimum 30 minutes daily. If you are going on a long trek see that you can jog for 30 minutes . From 2 days before the trek hydrate yourself by drinking lot of water . Sleep well the night before.
Each event as its own set of things to get. Please refer to https://goxp.in/things-to-take/ . Also once you register for the event a list of things to get, would be shared.
Most of the events we will be providing tent accommodation. Each tent accommodates 2-3 persons. Woman and Men will have separate tents. In some events we will be staying at local village houses. Please see inclusions on the type of accommodation provided on each event page.
On treks we do not provide sleeping bags. You need to get yours or 2 blankets, one to put on the floor and one to cover yourself up with. We provide sleeping bags at our campsite for some of the camping events. Please see the event page inclusions for that specific event.
We encourage participants to carpool while traveling on a event. The actual cost incurred by the car owner on the trip (Fuel, Toll, Parking) will generally be shared equally among all the passengers.
For example: If a trip has 400kms, the car gives a mileage of 12kms/Lt, fuel cost is Rs.90/Lt, Tolls+Parking is Rs.200 then the total car cost would come to ((400/12)*90)+200 = Rs.3200 . If there are 4 passengers in that car per head cost would be Rs.800.
Some long trips to encourage participants to bring their car into pooling and for the effort one takes to drive long distances, we exclude the car owner from pooling and the cost is to be shared by the other passengers in the car. We explicitly mention that in event page when the car owner is excluded.
Each event has its own mode of transport. For events which are below <250kms we generally encourage carpooling. If the events are far and out of state then we use public transportation. We generally try to book the base transportation which is economical and mention the cost. If anyone wants to choose any other mode based on their own preference, they can let the event organizer know and pay excluding the transport cost.
For example: For out of state treks we give the cost for sleeper class train so that it fits in everyone’s budget, but if anyone wants to travel in 3rd AC one can let the organizer know so that the cost is excluded from your payment and one can book their own ticket. Same applies to bus and flights.
On shorter treks we do not have this option. We encourage people to pack light (< 5 kgs) and carry their backpack. For Himalayan treks so of the events we have backpack offloading option. See the event details to check if an event provides this option.
We have an age limit of 18+ unless explicitly specified in the event page.
Each event will have its own food menu’s. We try to keep our menu’s light on treks and we mostly prefer procuring food locally to the place we are visiting. Do check the event page inclusions on the food provided. Also one can refer to https://goxp.in/things-to-take/ for details.
A goXp organizer will accompany the group.
On treks when on the trail mostly we will be using outdoors for nature calls. For camping trips we specify which campsites have washroom facility. If it is a private campsite we generally have washroom’s, but if we are using public campsites sometimes we need to use outdoors. Please check with the event organizer on the same as it will differ for each event.
On treks we ask participants to carry 2 / 3L of water for day / overnight events. Some events we will have water filling facilities. Please check with the event organizer on how much water one needs to carry. Also do refer to https://goxp.in/things-to-take/ for the same.
On treks mostly the network would not be strong as we would be going into the hills and forests. One should be prepared for no signal and inform your contacts upfront if you are expecting any calls. Most of the events will not have charging points so we advice all our participants to carry a power bank.
Once one registers for an event, we generally create a whatsapp group and add all participants there so that they can share information about the event, ask questions and connect.
A shoes with a good grip is strongly advisable on treks. We advice people not to wear new shoes on a trek to avoid shoe bite. Good trekking shoes would be available in any popular trekking goods stores like Decathlon. If the trek has many boulder then shoes with ankle support are good. If it an overnight trip, then packing a pair of slippers is helpful, so that one can use them when not on trail.
We have a strict no smoking and drinking policy on our events. Anyone found violating this will be removed from the event immediately.
We have a strict no waste and littering policy. Any waste created should be carried back and disposed in proper dustbins.
